Matt Best

Matt, is originally from UK and has beena resident of Tokyo since 2000. Along with fellow DJ, Dr Rob, they havetaken over DJ bar Jam in Ebisu on the 1st Friday of the month since 2006. Theirparty, 'right right right', is a party whichobsessivelypromotes an eclectic mix of music across all genres, or as they like to call it, "leftfield sounds from all around". Their night providesa fun environment in which to enjoy this soundand also givestheir guest DJ's the opportunity to play from their influences and dig deep.

Matt's currentDJ influences include;Harvey, Idjut Boys, Mark7 and Rahaan. In addition to these underground DJ's, he gains inspiration from David Mancuso's Loft philosophy, as well as parties like Body & Soul and the production worksof Francois Kevorkian andPatrick Adams.

Matt has played at various events in Tokyo, most recently supporting Terry Farley's Secret Sunday gig at Loop with a 4 hour set along with his partner Rob. Matt is also a regular contributor to the website 'djhistory.com' - promotingJapanese based DJ's and the Tokyo underground scene to its readers. When Matt is not digging out old records he is partof a global re-edit community thatrelease 12" edits under the name Beard Science.
